Holger’s Kawasaki z750 cafe racer: Blending the old with the new!

One of the most popular cafe racer bike platforms used out there is the Kawasaki z750.

So, with so many of the same thing, is there a way to still stand out from the crowd?

Holger Breuer from HB Custom apparently managed to do just that.

He has managed to create a totally unique Kawasaki Z750 cafe racer that manages to straddle that fine line of being unique and still be acceptable in the eyes of the purists in the cafe racer community.

The bike Holger got at first wasn’t running so he had to do a complete engine overhaul and replaced the pistons and clutch linings.

As an added feature, he included a functional electronic ignition system.

The stock configuration of the bike just wouldn’t do so the subframe had to be shortened to install the alloy tail unit.

Ikon shocks were then installed to smooth the ride at the rear while up front, Wilbers springs were used. For stopping power, a Kawasaki Z650 had to donate some of its parts.

One of the most notable (and subtle) things you’ll see on this bike is the radical custom pipes you wouldn’t normally see on any factory or project bike.

It perfectly follows the ground on a parallel level which helps define the look of this bike.

Holger fabricated exhaust headers from scratch and used mufflers originally designed for modern Triumph twins from the company, Classic bike Raisch.

The next thing he installed were the Mikuni TM34 carbs to complete the package.

Since Holger is an electrician by trade, it would be normal to expect that he’d do all the wiring himself.

He has successfully incorporated new and old technology in this bike by incorporating a lithium ion battery hidden within the tail.

To clean up the display area, he uses Motogadget’s Motorscope Tiny speedometer and the m-Switch controls.

The result is a streamlined area to monitor everything at a glance.

To cap it off, the paint colour of choice was a combination of black and brown with pin striping added in for good taste!

The end result is a very classy, elegant Kawasaki z750 cafe racer that successfully mixes the old with the new without standing out too much!
